Grand Charity Pig Race.

Bro Ronnie Crowe ROH has passed on the results of the Yn Droghad Lodge Grand Charity Pig Race held before Christmas which raised a total of £950. £300 of that total was passed to the Glen Glades Charities. The remaining £650 added to the Lodges charity fund allowing the lodge to donate £500 to the Praxis ( Isle of Man ). and a further £500 to Oskers Dream. This is a grand total of £1300 to local charities in the year 2009. This is not with standing there help and donations to other Lodges on the Isle of Man including the Knights Chapter who with there help raised £5500 for the Hospital. Not the largest Lodge but showing they have one of the largest Hearts for those in need on the Island.

All monies have now been passed to the charities.

This year they have chosen "Wish Upon A Dream" another local charity.

Lets all support the wonderful work which the Yn Droghad Lodge is carrying out Thanks to Ronnie Crow for passing on this information.

Ken Gardner shield. Offered up by the late Ken Gardner ROH, a Lady Isabella stalwart who like most others was raised to his higher degrees by Bro. Dave Brown ROH. The shield is presented to whichever Island lodge has the most successful candidates in a year through Examining Council. It was designed with two thoughts in mind. To promote competition between lodges sending candidates up for examination & more importantly to show prospective candidates that the Council members are just rank & file members like themselves. This is achieved by the Council attending, in regalia, the successful lodge & after presenting the Shield partaking in the fines & joviality of the evening. New members then realize they will be among like minded members when they face their ordeal (which it is) at a later date. The shield is also a reminder to the writer of the late Bro. Ken a good friend who died of Alzheimer's. Visiting him towards the end was a very disturbing experience.
